The stars came out on Hollywood's biggest night to raise money and awareness for foster children at the 11th Annual Children Uniting Nations Awards Celebration and After Party presented by The Hollywood Reporter and TV Guide Magazine inside The International Ballroom at the The Beverly Hilton.

The red carpet featured famous faces from music, television and film. "American Idol" finalist & recording artist Kimberly Caldwell, the original pop star Debbie Gibson, and music legends Chaka Khan & Freda Payne, along with TV stars Jimmy Jean-Louis, Daphne Zuniga, James Pickens Jr. & Gloria Garayua and film stars Samm Levine, Rosanna Arquette and Brandon Molale all spoke with over forty-five media outlets representing seven countries about the important work of Children Uniting Nations. Hollywood's youngest and brightest stars, Noah Cyrus, Emily Grace Reaves and BooBoo Stewart attended the event to show their support for children in need in their community.
Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by The Beverly Hilton's Executive Chef Suki Sugiura while they watched the Academy Awards in style. Thunderous applause and cheering was heard around the ballroom as Mo'Nique and Sandra Bullock won their most deserved Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress Oscars for their respective roles in the touching films "Precious" and "The Blind Side." Throughout the night, partygoers bid on one of a kind music, film and sports memorabilia from Grandstand Sports in the silent auction with the proceeds supporting the work of CUN.
Former foster child turned amazing success story Shani Annie Evans, spoke from her heart about how CUN has helped transform her life and then gave a beautiful musical performance with her band. EMMY award winning journalist and FOX 11 News anchor Christine Devine presented the Mentor of the Year award to David Dobryden and the Mentee of the Year award to De'Vonte Fields. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when De'Vonte shared his emotional story of how his mentor David is like a father figure to him and how his life is better because of the special bond and friendship that they share. David and De'Vonte are what the Children Uniting Nations Awards Celebration is all about, honoring the men and women who take time to make a difference in the lives of foster children in our community and how that bond can transform a child’s life forever.
CUN founder Daphna Ziman presented the Angel Award to Randy and Rebbie Jackson on behalf of their brother Michael Jackson's humanitarian work for children. Randy Jackson said children need love and role models and urged guests to get involved in their community and make a difference. Up and coming music act the Memphis Rascals performed a two-song set and wowed the crowd. Celebrity guests were invited to the Candy-land themed gifting suite created by Anita Thompson of Bellafortuna Entertainment and Carrie Zack of Carrie Zack Events. They were treated to fabulous gifts from Hot Rock, Ausiie Boots Australia, Shakers Vodka, The Liquor Luggage, Trina Turk, Prevent the Pain, Bullets 4 Peace, Lucy De Castenou, Skova, Le Bra Lingerie, Bing and the Health Goddess Holly Hughes.
Poker pro and eleven-time World Series of Poker champion Phil Hellmuth Jr. served as co-host of the CUN Celebrity Poker Contest with actor Miguel Nunez, which was directed by Yosh Nakano, President of the International Poker Players Association. Platinum recording artist and "American Idol" finalist Elliott Yamin who returned home safely from Chile on Friday, donated his incredible talent to the event where he performed his hits "Let Love Be", "Know Better" and "Wait For You." Elliott is an active supporter of non-profits around the world and was so inspired by the work of CUN, that during the live auction co-hosted by Howie Schwartz of Grandstand Sports and Amy Balsam of In 2 It Media, he returned to the stage to donate a private concert to the highest bidder. The crowd went wild for this amazing opportunity and with two bidders vying for the prize, Elliott generously decided to offer two private concerts to help raise double the money for CUN. Daphna Ziman plans on having Elliott entertain at an event for the foster children of CUN this Summer, and the other winning bidder, TV One Access co-host and philanthropist Quddus Philippe, is going to create a fundraiser for the foster children in our community featuring a special performance by Elliott Yamin. Special thanks to our celebrity live auction donors Rick & Kevin Dees, Quddus Philippe, Gloria Garayua, Samm Levine & Elliott Yamin.
One of the highlights of the night was the incredibly soulful and genuine performance by the music industry's hottest new artist, Matt Morris. The first artist on Justin Timberlake's Tennman Records, Matt performed songs from his debut album When Everything Breaks Open. Matt and his band flew in from Denver to donate their time and talent to support this great cause and partygoers enjoyed Matt's beautiful set.
The After Party thrown by world-renowned party host MacAfrica, was the place to be after the Academy Awards. Actor Quinton Aaron, who played Michael Oher in "The Blind Side", came by to celebrate his film's success and support CUN. Spinderella and Doug E. Fresh kept the dance-floor packed with old school hits and current club favorites.
Children Uniting Nations extends their heartfelt appreciation to Aqua Hydrate, La Tavola and Presidential Inner Circle for their support at this year's event. On Sunday, Children Uniting Nations celebrated their 11th annual Day of the Child (DOC) which is designed to bring awareness and support to the needs of children who, by no fault of their own, are living in and out of home care. Children Uniting Nations DOC is the community's way of letting foster children know that someone cares by providing mentors for the day. Once a mentor is signed up, they are paired at the event with a foster child and guided through a day of meaningful fun and bonding. Ultimately, the DOC encourages mentoring and underscores the need for these children to develop meaningful connections with adults in their community. The organizations long-term goal is to get members of the community to dedicate two days a month to be a permanent mentor for these children.
The event hosted performances by Aaron Carter, Frankie J, MC Lyte, Jabbawockeez, Austin Anderson, Teairra Mari, the Clipper Girls, Mariah Wilson, Maxso and many more.

CUN is a proactive organization created to bring attention to the plight of at-risk and foster youth. The goal is to reach as many children in out-of-home care by offering role-model support, guidance, a sense of community and promote the importance of an education. Inspired by the Day of the Child, CUN wanted mentoring to be more accessible to children living in foster care and therefore created a mentoring program to be administered in every city nationwide. Pioneered in Los Angeles, CUN's central mentoring program known as the Mentoring Partnership for Los Angeles Youth (mPLAY) has become the model program for the rest of the country. Children Uniting Nations continues to support and make possible the efforts of mPLAY by providing advocacy, funding, producing large-scale recruitment events and serving as the fiscal agent to the partnership. mPLAY is dedicated to providing children in the foster care system with highly trained mentors that are compassionate, steadfast and have an unconditional desire to give of themselves in order to make a positive difference in the lives of our most vulnerable children. CUN was founded by philanthropist and activist, Daphna Ziman.
